Prayer Governs God

It is a decision to invert the existing system of ego, which supposes the self at command, and replace it with the divinity.

These prayers are beautiful, they are meaningful and heartfelt. This pamphlet liberates the soul. Precisely because, unless the soul aspires after the divine, it remains in poverty. The illustrations are moving, the annotations concise. It is a life-changing condensation of some of the greatest historical Christian icons and ideas.

With Mother Mary as focal point, it asserts the feminine as component of humanity's understanding of godhead. The idea that a loving, caring, beautiful woman was cruelly and unjustly robbed of the presence of her beloved son, who also happens to be the Son of God, and that she carries forward through the tragedy with grace and nobility indeed ratifies her Heart as Sacred. Mary is put in context not only as Beloved Mother, but triumphant woman, the every-woman of today's feminisms and yesterday's civil rights efforts.

The Saints are esteemed. They remain excellent examples of the rewards of living virtuously. Although, they suffered, they helped humanity and their example continues to help and inspire people everywhere to do good, and try harder. This is a beautiful production. Every word provides ample opportunity for growth and spiritual reward.

Well rounded approach to math!

If you're looking for a sensible way to ensure you offer your primary students a balanced math program, this is the book for you. Each step is clearly explained, with examples and templates you can use immediately. The book is a fairly quick read so you should be able to begin implementing the program right away. It's a good idea to begin with one or two of the steps and gradually add new steps when you and your students are ready. I recommend this book.

The artist and amateur detective Philip Trent arrives to find that there is more to the case than the solving of a puzzle: he must also accept his own fallibility, in detection and in romance.

About the Author
E.C. Bentley was born in 1875 and educated at St Paul's School, London, where he met eminent critic and author G K Chesterton, who became his closest friend. Bentley began a lifelong career in journalism in 1902, working for ten years on the editorial staff of the Daily News and for a further twenty years on the Daily Telegraph. In 1905, he published 'Biography for Beginners' (under the pseudonym E Clerihew), which was a volume of nonsense verse consisting of four-lines and called 'Clerihews' (in his honour), which became as popular as the limerick form. Two further volumes followed in 1929 and 1939. Bentley's masterpiece, 'Trent's Last Case' (1913), was written in exasperation at the infallibility of Sherlock Holmes and marked the beginning of a new era in detective fiction. Indeed, it has long been hailed as marking the start of the 'Golden Age of Crime Fiction' and the first truly modern mystery. The sequel, 'Trent's Own Case', did not appear for a further twenty three years and this was then followed by a book of short stories; 'Trent Intervenes'. Of 'Trent's Last Case' Agatha Christie wrote: 'One of the three best detective stories ever written', whilst Dorothy L Sayers stated 'It is the one detective story of the present century which I am certain will go down to posterity as a classic. It is a masterpiece'.

Good, old-fashioned mystery

This is a wonderful, old-fashioned book, where the language is complex and clever, and honorable people recognize other people of honor at a glance. The plausible (and implausible) explanations of the mystery are intriguing. It's a lot of fun!

The First "Modern" Mystery Novel

Scholars consider it the first modern mystery novel. Agatha Christie called it "one of the three best detective stories ever written;" G.K. Chesterton went further, calling it "the finest detective story of modern times." The ever-erudite Dorothy Sayers flatly stated that every mystery novelist owed something to "its liberating and inspiring influence." Today, however, the vast majority of the reading public has never even heard of it.

The novel, of course, is E.C. Bentley's TRENT'S LAST CASE. By most accounts, Bentley wrote the book on a dare--much as Agatha Christie would later write THE MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR AT STYLES. When financier Sigsbee Manderson is found murdered at his country home, a London newspaper dispatches part-time artist, part-time journalist Trent to the scene. Within three days Trent cracks the case... or so he thinks. But is his solution correct? Or will it result in a terrible miscarriage of justice?

From a 2005 standpoint, TRENT'S LAST CASE is not a remarkable novel. Published in 1913, it feels overwritten, wordy, more Victorian in style than modern--and while the plot itself is interesting, it hardly compares to the unexpected twists offered by the very writers who so praised it and who were so influenced by it. But the fact remains that it was the first: Poe may have created the detective story and such writers as Doyle, Collins, and Dickens may have wrung romantic changes upon the theme, but it really wasn't until TRENT'S LAST CASE that the mystery novel as we presently think of it was born.

Most contemporary readers will likely find Bentley's style tough going, and although extremely influential the triple-twist plot has been done with considerably more drama in later novels. But say what you like, TRENT'S LAST CASE really is "the first," and that counts for a lot. Worth reading for the history of it!

I really like the books because of many of its features including:
1. The case studies are really helpful as they really explain the topics and they implement what's been learned in the text.
2. The answers are provided for case studies.
3. The text is designed for someone who has no Medical Knowledge.
4. The figures are really helpful

I would have liked:
1. The important terms could have been highlighted for easy reference.
2. A list of useful websites in one place would have been helpful
3. Some questions at the end of each chapter would have helped.

Overall, the book is an excellent source for anyone willing to learn what Epidemiology is and how to apply it in the field of medicine to make much more data-based, informed decision. I would recommend to all physicians or administrators looking to make clinical decisions.

Reforming Women’s Fashion is a very well-researched book that discusses the viewpoints of both the individuals and groups involved in dress reform in Europe and America. The author goes into minute detail about their various efforts at reform and contains many wonderful illustrations of Bloomer-style and aesthetic dress. Though sometimes repetitive, the text is well-written and based primarily upon nineteenth-century documents. As an extra plus, it includes many illuminating quotes. It should be of great interest to anyone wanting to learn about the nineteenth-century dress reform movement.
